mountains the oldest witnesses

mountains the oldest witnesses

If a mountain was cleaved open, it’ll reveal its eye that has borne witness to how our world has changed over and over again. The tallest of mountains were once submerged under water, and they still bear marks of that past. They are physical archives of oceans that vanished, species that evolved or disappeared, and cultures that once moved through these heights. This piece imagines a mountain to be at a cross-section of geological time, biological history, and human presence.
