life lived
This preserved skull belongs to a mule that spent his/her life in the valleys of Kashmir. I wanted the art on it to be reminiscent of where it came from, and the lives it must’ve touched. The 3 main design elements I used: Traditional motifs seen in Kashmiri Kasidakari embroidery. White pattern for the cascading valleys and rivers. The Rorschach pattern, where the brain nestled. It’s reminiscent of something primal and something timeless. I intentionally left parts of it unpatterned to expose the beautiful contours of a skull, that we don’t get to see up close.
